Welcome to the new Quercus website, it is still under development but we hope you will find something of interest here!  Quercus is a Lancaster based 5-piece instrumental group playing music for the folk dances of Europe – France, Sweden and beyond.  The music we play is a mixture of traditional dance tunes and compositions in the traditional style both from contemporary musicans we admire, and from members of the band. The music is suitable both for dancing (traditional dances known on the continent as “Bal Folk”) and for listening.

We are available for bookings, please get in touch using the contact page.  We can adapt our performance to suit the event and the audience, providing a mixture of concert music and dances. Dances can be taught during the evening (ceilidh-style) so that no experience is required or we play music for more experienced dancers without interruption. If you wish we can provide dance workshops for beginners or experienced dancers.

We are not to be mistaken for other bands called Quercus , such as the Quercus trio of  June Tabor, Huw Warren and Iain Ballamy, or the website of Peggy Lynn in the USA
